FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: The Host/Hostess is the first and last person guests will see when they enter and leave the restaurant. Responsibilities include greeting guests, assigning tables, answering phones and any questions guests may have about dining at MOSU. For this role, we are looking for someone with solid organizational and people skills, positive and outgoing personality, with the ability to communicate effectively with the MOSU team as well as customers.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Greets guests entering the restaurant & thank them upon their departure.
- Provide accurate wait times & monitor waiting list (Use of POS system, iPads, etc.).
- Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options, recommend waiting in bar.
- Answer phones, take reservations as required.
- Communicate with supervisors & teams in the event of a significant matter.
- Help where necessary to get guests seated quickly.
- Maintain clean reception area.
Qualifications:
- Previous work experience as a Host/Hostess or Waiter/Waitress.
- Understanding of restaurant etiquette.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
- Experience in managing reservations.
- Demonstrable customer-service skills.
- Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area.
- Availability to work in shifts as needed.
- High school diploma is a plus but not required.
- Knowledgeable with computers and tablet computers.
- Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift.
Salary: $18.00 – $28.00 per hour
