BARBACK / BARTENDER

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

Summary: We are looking for a professional, high-energy Barback/Bartender with excellent communication skills and creativity. MOSU is looking for a self-starter that will take responsibility for the bar area and work with the Manager to run an efficient, and profitable bar.

To succeed as a Barback/Bartender, you should have be engaging, friendly, efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
  2. Making drink orders for the bar guests, working with dining room servers to deliver drinks in timely fashion.
  3. Be familiar with drink/food menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.
  4. Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
  5. Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
  6. Restock bar as needed for service.
  7. Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
  8. Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
  9. Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.

 

Qualifications:

  1. 2-4 years of previous experience in a bartender/barback position
  2. Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol
  3. Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  4. Hands-on experience in cashier duties, handle money accurately and operate POS systems.
  5. Attention to cleanliness and safety.
  6. Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude.
  7. Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques
  8. Additional education, training, certificates, or experience may be required
  9. Ability to stand, walk, bend, etc. for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs (ie. Beer Kegs)
  10. Responsible, trustworthy and shows accountability.
  11. High school diploma is a plus but not required.
  12. Ability to support and participate in a team-oriented environment.
  13. Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.

 

Salary: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
